Apprentice Electrical/Electronics Engineer


Areas: Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire, North London/M25

As part of our sustained growth and confidence in our future we have created four brand new Apprenticeship positions.


You will be based from home which will be in the Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire and North London/M25 area. The Apprenticeship is over two years during which you will attend college one day a week to complete a BTEC National Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering at either Chelmsford College (chelmsford-college.ac.uk) or Abingdon and Witney College (abingdon-witney.ac.uk).


Core subjects include:
Unit 1 Business Systems for Technicians
Unit 2 Communication for Technicians
Unit 3 Engineering Project
Unit 4 Maths for Technicians
Unit 5 Electrical and Electronics Principles


Plus:
Unit 35 Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits
Unit 54 Electronic Measurement and Testing
Unit 60 Principles and Applications of Analogue Electronics


Further subjects may include:
Unit 25 Selection and Applications of PLC
Unit 28 Further Maths for Technicians
Unit 34 Electronics Circuit Manufacture
Unit 61 Construction and Applications of Digital Systems
Unit 67 Further Electrical Principles


Apprentice Engineers will also be professionally trained by our Field Engineers in the commissioning of fire detection systems including locating installation faults and testing equipment supplied. You will also work in other areas of the business to gain an overall commercial appreciation of how the business operates and why we are successful.


Candidates must be over 17 years+, reliable, enthusiastic, self-motivated, willing to learn, and offer some aptitude in electronics/IT. You should offer a minimum of 4 GCSEs grade ‘C’ or above to include English, Maths, Science and another, hold a full, clean UK driving licence and be prepared to drive to client sites and College.


Exceptionally, we will also consider part-qualified apprentices with relevant skills.

Design engineer


Based at our offices in Loughborough an exciting opportunity exists within our design team dedicated to tendering high value projects.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record in the design of fire detection and associated systems. The position plays a pivotal role in the successful bid process through value engineering and attention to detail. A comprehensive knowledge of BS5839 is essential as is a willingness to learn, grow and take responsibility.

Sales engineers


Position : Sales engineer
Reporting to : Sales director
Location : South West area ideally Bristol
North West area ideally Manchester
South Coast

The positions are ideally suited to those individuals who are new to sales or early in their sales career. We will train and develop successful candidates using both internal and external courses. Remuneration and benefit package to reflect development over a 2 year period.

The role:

  • Identify and target new customers within electrical contractors and consultants
  • Develop technical skills in order to offer the very best advice to customers on the application of product, compliance with specifications and British Standards
  • Able to present the complete product range
  • To present quotations and close orders
Essential skills:
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Willingness to learn with a hunger to succeed and a passion for customer service
  • Hardworking and committed to develop selling and technical skills
  • Able to create rapport and build relationships with customers
  • Honest and reliable
  • Technical interest/background or qualification
