Charity work

Building a brighter future in Cameroon

For several years Martin Lynch, one of our Directors, has been an active volunteer for AidCamps International and as a company, Clymac have made contributions to a number of charities that have helped fund the building of several schools in Africa.

It was on one of Martin’s trips where he first saw the work of Building Schools for Africa. Working in partnership with SHUMAS (Strategic Humanitarian Services in Cameroon) their aim, as part of the UN’s second Millenium Development Goal, is to raise money to build schools in rural Africa. Their vision is to ensure that by 2015 children everywhere, boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling.

We’re proud to report that six of our team including Cliff Wright, a Clymac Director have volunteered to travel to Cameroon in November to help the programme and see first hand the fantastic work being achieved by Building Schools for Africa and SHUMAS.

Helping Samaritans with their vital work

We’ve been supporting the Samaritans for a number of years and are delighted, this year, to be continuing to help. A number of our team volunteer at the local Nottingham branch as part of the support service, offering vital emotional support over the phone, by text and email as well as a face to face service for anyone, of any age or background.

Samaritans listen. They enable people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those who may be at risk of suicide, to receive confidential emotional support at any time of the day or night, from appropriately trained Samaritans, in order to improve their emotional health and to reduce the incidence of suicide.

Martin and Cliff’s operational involvement remains to this day, managing the business as it continues to move forward, ensuring that the vision of the business is always at the forefront of everything we do.

Our commitments

Our expertise may be highly technical, but everything we do, in essence, is about people. We listen to our employees and offer rewarding careers with opportunities to train and develop new skill sets within a supportive work environment. We build relationships with our customers that are the envy of our competitors. We are aware of our social responsibilities too, and are regular supporters of charities. At home, we have supported Samaritans for many years. Overseas, we have funded a schools building program in Cameroon for the last three years.
